OGAEMALTA correspondent in Brasov, Romania has confirmed to us that one of the two Maltese singers taking part in this year's Golden Stag 2009 has just made it to the finals phase. Glen will be taking part in the finals phase. Somehow, this is a sign of relief for the Maltese singer and the team behind him. Paul Giordimaina and Fleur Balzan won the contest in 2004 with Eleanor Cassar. Earlier today, the Maltese team was contacted by OGAEMALTA and took reactions following yesterday's third semifinal. Glen will be flying the Maltese flag tonight in Brasov, Romania for the final of the Golden Stag 2009. Unfortunately the other Maltese singer, Claudia Faniello did not qualify for the final phase. The finalists are Antonino (Italia), Geta Burlacu (Moldova), Glen Vella (Malta), Jasmine (Romania), Laura (Finland), Ori Piaf (Israel), Orlin Pavlov (Bulgaria), Ovi (Norvegia) and The Marker (Romania). Antonino won an edition of AMICI (Canale 5, Italy), Geta Burlacu and Laura both represented their countries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Orlin Pavlov represented Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest with the group KAFFE and on 1st May was one of the finalists of the International Malta Hit Song Contest 2009 held at the Freedom Square, Valletta. Contacted by OGAEMALTA soon after the release of the information, Glen was in high spirits but still with feet well rooted in the ground. "It is a tough challenge. I managed to get through the finals phase. Now I need to concentrate all my energy to give a powerful rendition of my songs tonight!" OGAEMALTA.com wishes all the best to the Maltese team, above all to Glen who will be representing Malta with his soulful voice. Source: OGAEMALTA.com |
