The winner of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, Dima Bilan lost his bid to snatch the MTV EMA 2009 award to Turkish band maNga (picture).Dima Bilan has been chosen to be among the top five for the Best European Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
The Russian pop sensation was in the game for months but later, after beating seventeen other regional winners, made it to the top five together with Deep Insight (Finland), Doda (Poland), Lost (Italy) and maNga (Turkey).
At first, also Helena Paparizou, the Greek winner of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, was in the running to become the Best European Act.
The 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards were held last Thursday. Beyonce Knowles won the largest number of MTV European Music Awards in this year's edition, leaving Lady Gaga trailing way behind!
Dima Bilan won Europe's favourite show back in 2008 with his song 'Believe'. Helena Paparizou did the same in 2005 with My Number One.
