» EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Official logo for the Malta Hit Song Contest 2010 revealed

Organisers of the Malta Hit Song Contest 2010 have revealed the new official logo accompanying the third edition of the popular festival.

The third edition will be launched on Sunday 10th January during the Sunday afternoon show, Celebrity Sundays. However, entries for the Malta Hit Song Contest 2010 need to be submitted on 8th December between 09:00 and 13:00 at One Tv offices, Marsa.

The organisers revealed the new logo, which is the artistic creation of Marija Debono.

Born in the wake of the nineties, Marija Debono always had a certain fascination with the control and ordering of colour. Debono says, “I find it amazing how ordinary paint, a can or tube that anyone can buy in a store, can be used and changed into something that I can call my own.”

At only 18 years of age, Marija has already exceeded high in expectations and progressed on to develop herself, both artistically and personally.

“There was a point, after I had failed my Art O'Level due to personal difficulties, that my achievement in art was solely determined by grades and passing. For seven months after that, I didn’t touch a paint brush.”, confesses Debono.

It was after a lot of encouragement from friends and family that Marija then picked up her paintbrushes and began to paint again. She paints mainly on sleepless nights and her work focuses mainly on finding solace in nature and a profound calming effect in worldly natural aspects. Marija blends her colours so as to offer the viewer a sigh of relief every time they are exposed to her soft weaving of hues. Marija’s debut came with The Contemporaries First Showcase in July 2009.

In October 2009 she had also exhibited her artwork in The Radisson Arts Expression. Her most recent exhibition which she had also coordinated, was the CENSOR ME!!! ART CAFE, in November 2009 at the MITP Theatre in Valletta.
