National broadcaster PBS has won the court case opened by former chairperson Grace Borg. This also means that the selection process can finally kick off. OGAEMALTA.com can exclusively reveal that this news came as a sigh of relief for both organisers as well as all possible participants who are all awaiting for the selection process to kick-off! A court had dismissed a request by Grace Borg for a warrant of prohibitory injunction to stop PBS and the Ministry of Culture from holding the Eurosong Festival under regulations which prohibited participation by people who did not hold Maltese citizenship. Ms Borg, who represents Maltese singers and has her own record label, had called for a change to the rules banning foreign composers and songwriters from taking part in the local contest. The court, however, found in favour of the festival organisers. In the coming days, PBS will inform participants with the updated schedule for the first phase. All entries, still sealed at the PBS offices, can now be counted and first statistics in connection with the Malta Eurosong 2010 released. Source: PBS, Times of Malta |
