» MALTA HIT 2010: Malta Hit Song Contest 2010 rules are out!
ONE TV has confirmed the 3rd series of the MALTA HIT SONG CONTEST. The new edition will kick off on Sunday 10th January 2010.

Rules and Regulations for the MALTA HIT SONG CONTEST 2010 as approved by UKAM are published together with the required application forms. Copy Attached Below.

Some important rules:

The Malta Hit Song Contest 2010 is open to all songwriters and singers who are in
possession of a Maltese citizenship or dual citizenship (by the song contest’s submission
date).

Singers, composers and authors must be 15 years of age by 30th April 2010.

There is no limit on how many entries each songwriter and singer can submit.
HOWEVER from the TELEVISED PROMOTIONAL PHASE onwards, each singer must
retain ONE ENTRY only (one singer, one song).

The lyrics should be mainly in English but may include short phrases (or verses) in
Maltese. Each song must not exceed (3:30min) 3 minutes 30 seconds in duration.

Each submitted song must have not been released or performed in public before 1st
October 2009. Songs taking part in other televised song festivals held between October
2009 and May 2010 are not eligible to take part in the International Malta Hit Song
Contest 2010.

15 entries (so, 15 different singers) will proceed to the TELEVISED PHASE which will
serve as a PROMOTIONAL PHASE only. No elimination will be held during this period.

SMS voting will serve only to award a different and separate prize, namely “The Public’s
Choice Award”. This will not reflect in the final result of the winning entries.

Competition Prizes for the local finalists include:
€500 for the entry placed FIRST
€300 for the entry placed SECOND
€200 for the entry placed THIRD

Submission Date: 8th December 2009 between 9am and 1pm at One TV, Marsa.
