THE CELEBRITY RED CARPET

Annabelle Debono -  Hailing from Mellieha, Annabelle was born on the 5th September 1988. She began her singing career at a very young age when as a little girl, she auditioned for Act React’s “Malta Children’s Choir” and eventually spent a good number of years singing in the same choir. Annabelle took part in Malta Song for Europe 2006 with 'Amazing' and 2007 with 'Nightwish'.  She took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 as Morena's backing vocalist.

Annabelle is the eighteenth artist to walk on our CELEBRITY RED CARPET. Enjoy!

"Nothing is impossible
to achieve"
-  Annabelle Debono

1. What were your dreams as a child? Did you ever wish to become a singer or you thought of another career?

I always wanted to become a performer. Not necessarily a singer, but I always saw myself on a stage, performing in front of an audience, where I entertain the people watching...it is just within me. I remember watching Malta Song for Europe when I was just a little girl, wishing I could be on the same stage one day. Then eventually I joined a Choir, began taking part in local festivals and one thing lead to another and here I am now.

2. Are you more like your mother or your father?

I look like my mother A LOT! However I don't panic as much as she does. I'm calm, relax and try to take everything with a pinch of salt...just like my father.

3. Rich and famous .... or .... poor and anonymous?

I think Rich and Famous.

4. What is your idea of heaven?

Stress-free, Serenity, Happiness, No jealousy, True Friendship, everyone smiling...bright colours all around!

5. What has been your greatest challenge so far?

It has been this year in May, where I had my first experience at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade and exactly after I came back to Malta I had my University final examinations. Thank God I passed all of them and now I'm off to my third year of studies. It was the greatest challenge as I spent the best two weeks of my life in the Eurovision Dream in Belgrade, and exactly afterwards, two weeks of studying and it was difficult to concentrate after such an amazing experience. However, I believe that where there is a will there is a way, and nothing is impossible to achieve!

6. What was your funniest experience with a fan?

I remember once I had a concert and a child came up to me for an autograph, but instead of a piece of paper she had a tissue paper, so I had to sign on a USED tissue paper. It was rather disgusting lool!

7. Are you a shopaholic? If so, which shops do you visit mostly?

Oh yes...I'm a woman I LOVE shops!! I love shoes and bags and whenever I'm around shops with nice bags and shoes I try to calm down as I tend to exaggerate with all the shopping and then feel guilty afterwards!

8. What makes you angry?

People who make you trust them and then find out they are completely dishonest. I hate jealousy as well. I hate it when people don't like you just because you have succeeded in something. It's frustrating. That is when you realize who are your true friends and who are the people who love you most.

9. A 'YES' you're sorry you have said.....and a 'NO' you're proud you have said?

I believe everything happens for a reason...I always think before I give an answer so I don't regret anything in my life so far. I don’t regret anything in life, however I’m proud to have said ‘NO’ to people who try to put me down and make me believe I’m not good enough. I love challenging those people!

10. Which career do you see yourself doing apart from the one you're already doing?

I love my career as a singer, and hopefully I'll be a full time Computer teacher in 3 years time. I love what I'm doing and wouldn't see myself doing something else other than teaching.

11. Which is your favourite word....and least favourite?

Least favourite is definitely GOODBYE... most favourite is ... ‘PIACE!’ I’m using it a lot lately.

12. Can you please send a message to all readers of OGAEMALTA.com?

I would like to thank you all for your infinite support to local artists like myself. Your work really helps us and is very much appreciated! :) Also, I would like to share this thought with you, that Anything that is worth anything needs a lot of work and sacrifice to be accomplished! So never stop dreaming and working hard for your goal!
