"Malta Song for Europe 2008
was a breakthrough in my career"
-  Daniela Vella

1. What were your dreams as a child? Did you ever wish to become a singer or you thought of another career?

As a child I always dreamt of becoming a singer and actually perform on stage. I started when I was only eight years old and I never looked back since.

2. Are you more like your mother or your father?

I think I'm more like my father...ambitious and strong.

3. Rich and famous .... or .... poor and anonymous?

I think being rich and famous in the long run changes your character and the way you look at other people so I choose poor and anonymous...I’d rather be happy with what I’ve got rather than being rich and unhappy.

4. What is your idea of heaven?

A very peaceful place something like a paradise with very cute angels.

5. What has been your greatest challenge so far?

The greatest challenge in my career till now was actually this year, when I participated in the Malta Song for Europe. I am aware it is not easy for a new comer to make it through considering the vast talent we have in Malta. This was a breakthrough in my career. The fact that I coped very well with the pressure that you face in these types of festivals, public media and foreign judges was a challenge in itself and I managed to overcome it.

6. What was your funniest experience with a fan?

Nothing out of the extraordinary ... just a signature or two (not yet a diva haha)!

7. Are you a shopaholic? If so, which shops do you visit mostly?

When I have the time and money I like to go shopping and when I start buying it’s difficult to stop, so in a way I am a shopaholic. I mostly buy clothes but my main fetish are shoes ... I love shoes!!

8. What makes you angry?

Hard headed people make me angry and mean…I can’t stand people who think that what they say is always right and they don’t admit it when they are wrong.

9. A 'YES' you're sorry you have said.....and a 'NO' you're proud you have said?

A ‘Yes’ I’m sorry I have said to my brother when he asks me for a favor because he never does a one in return.

A ‘NO’ I’m proud to have said to drugs .

10. Which career do you see yourself doing apart from the one you're already doing?

Apart from singing, I am a university student aspiring to become an accountant one day. So I imagine me behind a desk working with numbers...hopefully.

11. Which is your favourite word....and least favourite?

My favourite word is seaweed..that’s what I call my boyfriend haha.  The least favourite is the phrase “aw pupa!!

12. Can you please send a message to all readers of OGAEMALTA.com?

Thanks to all the readers of OGAE MALTA for supporting the Maltese talent and obviously thanks goes to all those people who supported me throughout my career.
