Miodio
- San Marino debut entry
at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008
ÓExclusive
interview carried by Theofilos Toronidis for
OGAEMalta.com
1. What is
the meaning of your band
name "Miodio" and
who are the members? |

|
|
Miodio means
"I
hate myself"
and it is a provocative word ; “you
must learn to see how much you hate yourself
until you look at yourself in the mirror and
see the reflection of your thoughts, you
will use every person you meet as a mirror
reflecting what you think of yourself…” Our
band is made up by five members: Niko
(vocals),
Paul (guitars),
Polly (bass,
programming), Sanchez (keyboards,
programming), Alex Cena
(drums).
2.Who is the author of your song? Your
composer and lyricst?
The composer of our song "Complice" is Niko,
the vocalist of Miodio.
Niko is the composer of our band
also.
3.Have you taken part in contests? And if
yes in which ones?
Yes we have! We won several national
contests, we joined the “Young European
Artists festival”
and performed on the biggest Italian
stadiums, supporting an Italian music Icon
such as Renato Zero.
|
|
4.
Where are you guys from?
From Italy or San Marino?
Tell us about your music and your cds.
Miodio is half from Italy, half from San
Marino’s republic..our first album will be
out by the end of may. Our music may be
defined as an elecrto-pop where the 80’s
music influences and synth-pop are somehow
blend together…Our first album will be out
before this summer. |
 |
|
5. Are you optimistic for Eurovision? Do you
believe that you will have a good result in
Serbia?
Yes…we’re aware our song is pretty nice,
we really want to perform it on the stage of
Belgrade…hopefully as ever!!!
6. Have you ever watched Eurovision? What
is your opinion for it?
Unfortunately in Italy as in San Marino,
Eurovision Song Contest has not been aired
for the past ten years. That’s why we missed
a large part of it…even if we know some
international fame artists have been joining
it. |
|
7. You will perform on
stage as the 5th act in the first semi
final. Do you think that
this is
a negative or
a positive
starting point for you?
We think that could be positive because in
the first places there’s always a careful
audience and the listening could be more
pleasant.
|
 |
|
8. What are
your plans for the future?
We don’t usually care too much about the
future ...
the present is much more important!
9. Tell us
about your music. Do you want to pass some
messages to the audience?
Complice is an especially
introspective and emotional song
and an unusual composition for us,
as the Miodio's concept is a little
more dynamic, synth and electronic.
Our cd is meant
to be quite original and interesting.
10. How is your
stage appearence going to be in the First
Semi Final?
We hope it’s gonna be impressive and
emotional.
11. Have you
heard the other entries of
Eurovision
Song
Contest 2008? And
if yes, what's
your opinion?
Yes…we admit there are many interesting
songs this year. It’s
gonna be an amazing contest!
12. What do you
think of the
Maltese entry "Vodka" and the
Maltese
representative, Morena?
We like the Maltese song "Vodka"! Its a nice
dance song and Morena's voice is
sweet.
13. Please send
a message to all the
Maltese fans of
the Eurovision Song
Contest, all the
readers of our site and to the members of
Ogae Malta.
We would like to pass our
best feelings to all! See you in
Belgrade!
