Charlotte Perelli - Swedish entry at Eurovision Song Contest 2008 & Winner of Eurovision 1999

Ó Exclusive interview by OGAEMALTA.com

1. Why did you reconsider entering the Eurovision Song Contest? Don't you think this can ruin your music-reputation if you don't win again?

I´ve got a good song and I wanted to join the competition again.

2. Swedish tabloid, 'Expressen', had reported that you said that "Western European countries seem not to have chances to win again, after what I saw in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest". Are you still of the same opinion?

What? No…I ´ve never said that. Serbian entry was my own favorite last year, if thats what your thinking of?

3. You are currently preparing your 5th album. Will it be full of Europop songs such as 'Hero' or will it include some other styles too?

The album is ready and we release it in Sweden the 23 of April. It will be a good pop album but will also includes a couple of power ballads.

4. What went through your mind watching Dana International falling over with the trophy in the prize-ceremony at Eurovision '99 in Jerusalem? Or was it all staged?

Everything happened so fast, I did´t get it!! I was just standing there, staring with opened mouth like everyone else…

5. Most fans still remember you as Charlotte Nilsson - the stunning blonde who won Eurovision 99 with 'Take me to your heaven'. Will you stick to Nilsson-Perrelli or will you go for just Perrelli for Eurovision 2008?

I will go for just Perrelli. That’s my name since -04. I think when people are talking about me, they will also talk about the victory-99 and mention Nilsson.

6. Can you please tell us more about your entry 'Hero' and what is the message you want to send to all the listeners during this song?

It´s a really good song and I like the lyrics a lot. A song about love and compassion.

7. Will you keep the same stage act as you used in winning Melodifestival or will you change the choreography and the backing team?

The choir will be changing. Most of the choreography will be the same, but some has to be changed because of this stage is so much bigger.

8. Can you please tell us more about the preparations for Serbia? Are there any details you can give us about your Eurovision outfit?

I will probably be wearing the Same outfit as I did in Sweden. Are preparations before Serbia is like them before Sweden… rehearsals and dance.

9. Both 'Hero' and 'Take me to your heaven' can be considered as typical Swedish-Eurovision entries. Do you think that this is still a winning-formula for Eurovision?

I think a good song is always a good song! I still hope that is enough.

10. Do you agree with the two semifinals rule implemented this year and do you think that the 'western-european' countries can eventually stand a better chance now?

I don´t have any clue.

11. Did you hear any of the other competitiors and what do you think of this year's competition?

I´ve heard them all and there are some really good songs.

12. What is your opinion about the Maltese entry, VODKA and our singer, Morena?

I like europop, hope you have a chance to be top3!

13. Are you planning to visit Malta as part of your pre-Eurovision tour? If so, when?

Yes, were talking about it, but we havent decided it yet.

14. Can you finally send a message to all the Maltese Eurovision fans and readers of OGAEMALTA.com?

I hope to come and see your beautiful county soon and also hope you like my Eurovision song Hero. Many thanks!!!
